Cyber Citizens Game Update Log

March 6, 2010
- The base damage from attack weapons has been reduced by 50%. Attack weapons will retain their previous fight odds bonus as detailed here.

February 6, 2010
- Citizens may now own a house in more than one city.

February 5, 2010
- The defense bonus provided by bars and police stations has been reduced to 10%. The defense bonus provided by houses has been increased across the board.
- All houses provide at least some kind of energy bonus now. Shanty Town, Shacks, and Converted Warehouses weren't providing any energy bonus previously. They now provide 0.5 energy bonus.
- All previously purchased houses have been updated to the new values.

February 4, 2010
- The residential locations that were added yesterday have been shuffled around to provide more convenient map locations. Apologies to everyone who had already purchased a house and was sitting at the previous positions. This is a change for the better though and I'll try not to move the markers again.

February 3, 2010
- Residential locations are now available on the game map. You can read more about the residential location and house houses function in the game here.
- In an effort to make energy items more useful the base energy gained per hour has been reduced from 5 points to 3 points per hour.
- Citizen money, other than your own, is now hidden from public view. You can still calculate roughly how much money a citizen has based on their score but you won't be able to know whether or not they have that money in the bank or on pocket.

January 20, 2010
- A couple of additions and tweaks to the weapon items. Added a couple of new rifles and renamed the previous 'Body Armor' to 'Kevlar Vest' and added a new item called 'Body Armor'.

January 19, 2010
- Citizens now have the option to commit a robbery or vandalize city locations. Acts of vandalization allow you to destroy city property thus costing the city money. Vandalization causes more harm to a city's treasury than robberies but you will not steal any money in the crime.
- The item inventory icons have been updated.
- Several new weapons have been added to the game. See the Weapons help section for more information.
- The defense bonus provided by police stations and bars was too high. I have reduced the defense bonus to 20% rather than 30%.
- The cost of air travel has been reduced.

January 18, 2010
- Weapon items have been added to the game along with a new location in each city to purchase player created weapons. Weapons are produced only by player operated companies. See the Weapons help section for more information. This was a big update so if you see anything weird please report it in the bug reports section of the forums.
- Police Stations and Bars have been added to each city. Police Stations provide a 30% 20% defense bonus from attacks to citizens without a warrant against them. Bars provide a 20% defense bonus from attacks to citizens with an active warrant against them. Citizens must be within access range (grey circle) of these locations to get the defense bonus.
- Coming soon will be additions to the Police Station and City Bar locations as well as the ability to vandalize city locations (as opposed to robbing them). Also a few more weapons types are in the works.

January 11, 2010
- The percentage of traits lost in fights has been increased from 2% to 5%. This value may be adjusted again later on.

January 7, 2010
- Added a notepad for players to keep track of their notes. You can find your notepad via the 'My Citizen' link on the top navigation menu or by clicking the icon beside your citizen name.

January 6, 2010
- Added a 'City Description' box that can be updated by the city mayor in the 'About City' tab in the courthouse location. The 'City Description' box allows city mayors to, "Describe and advertise the city of [insert city name] to all new players who join Cyber Citizens. Tell them about your city, what its policies are, and why a citizen should call [insert city name] their home." When new players are creating their citizen they will be given a link beside the home city selector that says, "Which city should I choose?"
- Updated the 'Citywide Smoking Ban' city ordinance to cost the city money while reducing the happiness penalty. Reduced the negative effects of the 'Neighborhood Cameras' city ordinance.
- Added a new tip on the citizen display page to encourage players who have not yet voted to visit the courthouse and vote for their favorite candidate.
- Added a new stats page that shows the number of arrests of citizens around the world.
- The city jail location will now list all the citizens that are currently incarcerated in the jail.
- Added a 'Featured News Shouts' page which lists all the featured news shouts that appear on the game home page. This should help players find and continue discussin featured news shouts after they've been bumped off the game home page.

December 18, 2009
- Some new banner ads have been added to the invite friends screen to help you attract more players when you use your invite friends code. You can get $30.00 in-game money for each citizen that reaches a score of 35 or higher, up to 20 citizens. That's $600.00 free money for your citizen. The invite friends page can be located under the 'Community' tab on the top navigation menu.

December 13, 2009
- A new 'About [Cityname]' tab has been added to the Courthouse location on the city map. This new tab provides all the relevant information about the city that you are currently in including tax rates, city ordinances, messages from the mayor, city employee records, and more.
- The 'Mayor Approval Rating' has been reworked to show citizens that have not expressed their opinion of their mayor as neutral instead of automatically set to approving as it was before. As a result of this change everyone's approval setting has been reset to neutral. To show your support or disapproval of your current city mayor go to the Courthouse location on the map and click the 'About [Cityname]' tab and then click either the green checkmark for approval or the red checkmark for disapproval under the mayor's name.

December 4, 2009
- Players can now search by city name in the world address book. Searching by city name will return citizens that are currently in the city that is being searched for. This can be used to search for an individual citizen or to find all citizens within a particular city. Here's an example query where I've searched for everyone within the city of New York and then sorted those records by most votes.
- City police officers are no longer prevented from serving arrest warrants if their fight odds are greater than 80% against wanted criminals.
- Since a citizen's age is currently only for role playing purposes I've added the ability to change your citizen's age via the Edit Citizen screen.
- Added a World Arena Contenders page to provide stats on citizen training records around the world. Let the title bouts begin. I debated if all citizens should be included on this screen or if only citizens who have fought in, say 10 bouts, should be shown. If you have a suggestion on this please post it in the forums.

November 27, 2009
- Company CEOs and party owners who set their company/party join method to 'Approval' can now receive a private message notifications whenever a citizen applies to join your company/party.
- The criminal records screens now show an icon whenever a successful arrest is made or when an arrest fails. The criminal records screens will also indicate if a player is currently wanted or not and by what city. This should help bounty hunters and city police determine who to track and who needs to be arrested without having to click on the citizen display screen as much.

November 24, 2009
- Donation rewards have been turned on in the game. If your citizen is low on money and you need money to grow you can get in-game money added to your citizen as a reward for your donation. Players can donate towards their own citizen or towards their friends accounts. Donations are used to help support the site and pay for server expenses. Please visit the Donation Rewards screen for more details.

November 23, 2009
- Certain companies were getting too much money from their item sales as detailed in this bug report. As a result of the overpay some companies will see a reduction in their available funds.
- The damage from fights has been changed from a hard 2 point deduction to percent based on 2% of your ratings.
- Crime is running rampant in the cities around the world. Since the mayoral elections are over week away and we currently have no mayors to appoint police officers I've stepped in and appointed some police officers in each city to help curb the violence. I selected the police officers based on the top vote receivers so far. Police officers may create arrest warrants against citizens who have committed crimes in their city. Any citizen may serve as a bounty hunter and can collect $5.00 for each arrest warrant that they serve. Citizens may locate wanted citizens via the Courthouse Location and on the [City] Citizens tab sorting by the 'Wanted' field. The mayor election cycle runs on December 1st and after that time it will be up to the city mayors to appoint police officers.

November 15, 2009
- Added a 'CPV' field in the item purchase screen. CPV stands for 'Cost Per Value'. It's the price of the item divided by the value of the item. It's usually more profitable for your citizen to purchase items at a low CPV rating. This should help citizens get a better idea of the most beneficial items to purchase.
- Government Companies are now closed to new employees. This will help player created companies gain more employees and be able to better compete against the government companies. All employees of government companies have been removed. If you worked for a government company you will need to find a new company to work for or create your own company.

November 14, 2009
- We had an issue with companies not getting the correct pay from item purchases. When an item was sold the citizens own company was getting the pay from the sale instead of the company who actually produced the item. As a result of this bug I was forced to reset all company money back to the starting value of $25.00. My apologies for the issue. Luckily we caught this early and only one day of company income was affected.

November 13, 2009
- Cyber Citizens is now in open beta. All alpha testing accounts have been reset. If you find a bug or see something weird please report it in the forums.

November 10, 2009
- The game will be moving to beta on Friday 11/13/2009. At that point the game will be reset. Everyone will keep their login account but their citizen/company/party will have to be recreated.

November 7, 2009
- The casino from Cyber Citizens version 1 has been brought back and is better than ever. Each casino features a slot machine and new to the casino this time around is a progressive win amount that gets added to the casino each time someone loses. The progressive win amount can be won by matching all 4 pictures on the slot machine. Each city has a casino and its up to the city managers to decide if they want to legalize gambling in their city or not. The casino automatically taxes casino winnings based on the city income tax rate and puts that money into the city coffers.

November 5, 2009
- The game map will now simulate daytime and nighttime based on the official time of the city that your citizen is currently in. If it is night time the map will have a black overlay. If it is day time the map will have a white overlay.
- Added a city budget chart in the New Stand Location.
- Added a weather report screen in the News Stand Location.

November 3, 2009
- I've added a city ledger screen viewable from the Courthouse Location by the city mayor and city managers. Data will begin filling in starting later tonight.
- I've manually reset the election cycle. Everyone who was elected mayor of a city please test out all settings and report any problems in the bug reports section of the forums.

October 31, 2009
- I've opened up political parties so that you can now vote outside of your party affiliation. Notice when you're at the Courthouse Location --> All Political Parties you can now actually click on the party names to view a political party and see who is a member of that party. Click the green checkmark beside a party member's name to vote for that citizen.
- The screen that you are viewing now is the game update log. Whenever anything changes in the game you will be alerted about it here.
